Parents and the Community
Parents and the Community
At Immaculata, parents play an active role in the life of the school. We strive to maintain tuition that is low and still financially responsible. We also provide a high quality academic program with extracurricular opportunities. To accomplish this, we have to rely on members of the community to provide resources and services. Parents support the school by helping in the offices, designing advertising copy, and proofreading reports and curriculum materials. Parents also serve as coaches, mentors, tutors, and liaisons to other organizations. Parents work with staff to organize the annual Oktoberfest and the Spring Yard Sale. Parents also participate in more traditional fundraising activities and potluck suppers.

Parents at Immaculata want to be involved in their children's schooling and there are many opportunities for the sharing of time, talent, and treasure.

Home and School Association
The Home and School Association (H&SA) is the parent organization for Catholic Schools. Most families at Immaculata are members of the H&SA The H&SA supports the goals of the school by fundraising, recruiting volunteers, organizing community events, and providing education about issues of interest to parents and families. Thanks to the efforts and vision of the H&SA, Immaculata boasts a new state-of-the-art computer network and computer lab.

Special Events
Parents and community members provide the expertise, organization, and resources that result in our annual Oktoberfest and Spring Yard Sale. These two events raise funds to support the school. Financial assistance and building and grounds improvements have been supported by these fundraisers.

Immaculata Catholic School Advisory Committee
Parents and parishioners serve on the Immaculata Catholic School Advisory Committee (ICSAC). The ICSAC advises the pastor and the principal on school matters, advises about the budget, approves fundraising, and lends expertise to the administration of the school. The ICSAC meets monthly and includes nine members.

Leadership Team
The Leadership Team is a group composed of a representative cross-section of faculty, staff, and parents and is charged with overseeing the development and implementation of the school improvement plan. The school improvement plan is the educational "strategic plan" for the school. Two parents serve on this important team.

Tutoring
Some parents share their talents with students by tutoring. Immaculata parents tutor in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and organization.

Athletics and the Arts
Serving as coaches, time keepers, and boosters at athletic events, parents are invaluable. Parents have designed playgrounds and painted four-square courts. Set design, costume making, and stage crew manager are tasks performed by parents in the past.

Parent Forum
Every other month the principal and assistant principal meet with interested parents in a forum. Parents bring issues of concern for discussion. In this way, parents shape school life.
